Liz BabiakLiz Babiak, Social Media Community Officer at Algonquin College, is one of the 13 higher ed professionals presenting at the 2014 Higher Ed Content Conference.

Liz manages the College’s social media strategy, presence, policy and employee training.

In this 3-question interview, Liz tells us about a content challenge, a secret weapon to create better content and shares some advice.

1) What is the biggest challenge you face in your day-to-day work on higher ed content?

The biggest challenge is finding out about (and staying on top of) all the great content that flows through our College. Our different schools, programs, and departments each have great events, successes, and stories to share — it’s sometimes just a matter of knowing about them and packaging them in a compelling way for social media.

2) What is your secret weapon to get better higher ed content created?

Pssst! Higher Ed has the benefit of knowing many of our academic and administrative deadlines months in advance. Students often have a lot of questions about these deadlines, so we can anticipate the information they need to know and schedule it to publish at the times they’ll need the answers most.

3) What piece of advice would you give to somebody who wants to improve digital content?

Find out what your audience needs — what information are they asking for, what has them stumped — and create content to answer those burning questions.
