7th monthly Higher Ed Benchmarking Web Analytics Report

After publishing reports with August 2014, September 2014, October 2014, November 2014, December 2014 and January 2015 data, we’re happy to share the 7th report.

Report methodology

US benchmarking report feb2015The data compiled for this monthly report was downloaded on March 1st, 2015 from Google Analytics Benchmarking Reports.

The compiled, scrubbed and analyzed data spans from February 1st and 28th, 2015 for the 7 GA buckets of the 5 following countries:

  1. USA (2,956 benchmarked web properties)
  2. Canada (1,650 benchmarked web properties)
  3. UK (1,712 benchmarked web properties)
  4. Australia (1,267 benchmarked web properties)
  5. France (1,202 benchmarked web properties)

According to Higher Ed Experts 2013 survey on the State of the Mobile and Responsive Web in Higher Education (n=174), mobile phones were responsible for 9.3% of the total web traffic in 2012 and tablets for 3%.

    Thanks for posting this great information. I’m looking to gauge our mobile traffic relative to an industry benchmark and this is perfect. I do have one question: Are the numbers reported here specific to off-campus traffic, or would these numbers include sessions from within the home campuses’ networks? Our mobile numbers are very, very different when looking at off-campus traffic vs. on-campus or all.

      You’re welcome, Jason.

      These numbers are aggregates from all the higher ed Google Analytics accounts. So, my bet is that they will include all traffic for the majority.

      While this would not be perfect, you can probably look at the data points for new users to make sure you don’t include people on campus (this approach might not work for August or September though).
